Having dropped out of college, Mark worked in the Caledonian Hotel, Ayr, lived in Edinburgh for 2 years, then returned to sunny Saltcoats where he worked in the Bay Hotel for 8 years. He lives in Saltcoats with his partner, Wendy, and his 2 children, Brogan and Ben. He is currently employed in James Watt College.
Halliday, Stephen

Left school in 1985.

Stephen was at Ardrossan Academy for two years but now lives in Toronto, Canada. He took up baseball on a scholarship in 1987 and has now progressed to the major league ranks. He plays baseball for the Toronto Blue Jays as a pitcher! He is married to Jackie. They have two children: Kate and Joshua. Stephen would appreciate contact from any of his schoolfriends.

After attending James Watt College Michelle became a graphic designer. She worked for Scottish Radio Holdings as a web designer for 2 years before starting up Visual Magick Multimedia, a successful web design and hosting company which she owns.

Tom plays music in 2 bands. He plays solo music as well. He plays guitar and the borran (Irish drum). He entertains elderly people at the Three Towns Care Home in Stevenston. He is also taking a computer course and an Introduction to Counselling course at the Three Towns learning centre.
Hargreaves, Colin

Left school in 1986.

Colin left school at the first opportunity and luckily walked into a good job with ICI. While he was at ICI he met and married Jacqueline McIntyre (also a former pupil). They have three boys: Kieran, Conor and Cailean. Colin remained at ICI for over six years before growing restless and taking up a Commissioning Technician's post at Sellafield. After a year he left to work at Hunterston "A" power station where he is now a Senior Health Physics Monitor. He is currently working towards a BSc in Physics with the OU. Colin lives in Ardrossan. He is chairman of Ardrossan & District Kilmarnock Supporters Club and is also involved with the football club themselves. Although his hair is now short, he still loves 'Iron Maiden'.

Liz did her nurse training between 1985 and1988. She is a staff nurse in a local nursing home and is married to Kevin. She has three children: Lauren, Jason and Rebecca. They live in Ardrossan. Her pastime is supporting Kilmarnock FC.

Colin left Ardrossan in 1991 and moved to Oxford where he became a printer. In 1997 he joined Thames Valley police. He left Oxford in 2000 and transferred to Devon and Cornwall Police. He now lives and works in the district of Penwith in Cornwall. He moved there partly because he missed the seaside. He now enjoys surfing and gig rowing and competes in the world gig championships in the Isles of Scilly in May each year.

Bruce has worked for Tesco, has been a sales rep for Beechams Foods and Kraft Foods, has been Senior Financial Consultant with Lloyds TSB at Greenock and is now an Associate Partner with St. James's Place Partnership. He is married to Anne and they have 2 children, Colin and Gemma. He is still a member of the Rugby club and sees quite a few of his former classmates. He still lives in Ardrossan and still enjoys the odd sherry shandy. Bruce is happy for anyone to contact him.

When Scott left school he went into the civil / construction industry where he worked as a surveyor throughout the country. He got an HNC in Civil Engineering from Stowe College and worked for Strathclyde Region / North Ayrshire Council Roads Dept for 8 years before seeing the light. He has been working as a sales engineer since 1999 and joined his current firm, Maccaferri, in June 2002. He has now been promoted to Northern region manager with the same firm and Graduated with an MBA from The University of the West of Scotland in 2009. He lives in Irvine with his partner Lynn. He has 2 sons: Andrew (born 1996) and Jonny (born 1999). He still enjoys sport but not so much on the participation part anymore. Scott would like to hear from anybody who remembers him.

George lives in the East Midlands where he works as a trade plate driver. He has been married to Jennette since 1999. They have four children.

Left school in 1986.

Lizzy is a Registered General Nurse with the Argyll & Clyde Health Board. She left West Kilbride and travelled the length and breadth of the UK to pursue a career in Nursing. She now works at the Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit at the Southern General in Glasgow. She enjoys Bacardi, Rangers and her new son Charlie (although not necessarily in that order). When Scott left Ardrossan Academy he joined the Maritime Regiment of the army and worked all around the world on landing crafts. He left after 6 years and came home. He then went back to sea as the captain of a dredging vessel around the UK. He is now working for Seacat Fast Ferry operators Troon to Belfast. He lives in Belfast with his girlfriend Lorna. He goes back to Saltcoats all the time 'for the cheap booze' !

When Cheryl left school she went to work at Kirkwood Fashions in Saltcoats. She moved to Sheffield in 1984 and had various jobs. She currently works for Premier Prison Services as a 'visits clerk'. In her free time she enjoys aerobics and working out at the gym to 'burn off the beers'.

Ronnie is a Member of Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland. Despite a promising football career, no-one signed him, and he has now gone to fat!!!! He is a Business Banking Manager with Clydesdale Bank, based at Phoenix Business Park, Linwood. He married Heather in 1989, and they live in Lennoxtown. They have two boys, Robbie and Scott. On leaving school, Sheena worked for a small insurance broker in Saltcoats. From 1991 to 2004 she worked for Hill House Hammond in Ayr and Kilmarnock. When the company closed and all were made redundant, she started working for Abbey.
Sheena married David in 1996 and has two fantastic sons - Jack (born 1999) and Harry (born 2001). Most of the time she is kept busy with the boys and their homework! She would love to hear from anyone who knows her.

Married name: Jacquie Macdonald

Jacquie went back to school in 1993 to do an 'Art and Design' higher, studied at Glasgow College of Building and Printing and, in 2001, obtained an HNC in 'Childcare and Education' at James Watt College. She is currently working at Towerlands Primary School as a special needs nursery nurse and youth work.
She is married with two children, Rebecca and Sam. They have lived in Portencross , Saltcoats and have now returned to Ardrossan. She has a lot of pastimes namely socialising, dancing, aerobics, cycling, hill walking, rollerblading, weightraining and sailing.

Karen obtained a City and Guilds in Hairdressing then NNEB (Nursery Nursing) at Kilmarnock College.

She married Tom McMillan in 1993 and had a daughter, Kira, in 1997. They divorced in 2006 but still live in Ardrossan. She is working as a nursery nurse and basically living a quiet life. It would be great to hear from anyone that remembers her, apart from the ones who bullied her at school - she has not forgotten who they are :-)

Left school in 1983.

Derek left school and worked in ICI for one year with YTS. He worked as a lifeguard at Hunterston power station intakes. He started working in Hunterston 'B' power station in 1985 as a labourer for a year and was promoted to the production department. He attended Kilmarnock College for an HNC in electrical engineering. He was shop steward works committee representative but retired in August 2001. He married Helen Faulds (also former pupil) in 1991. They have 3 beautifull kids: Martin, Jason and Sarah-jane. He still stays in Ardrossan.

Now happily married to the beautiful Jo Jo, he lives in Kilwinning, studying as an outdoor education instructor at Ayr College. He is passionate about sailing, windsurfing, the Scottish hills and trying to save the World from extinction. Anyone wishing for some extreme adventure feel free to email.

Nial lives in Ardrossan working as a Retained Firefighter and also at Iceland PLC. His pastimes include computers, watching Celtic and beer drinking.

Stuart obtained a City and Guilds and Advanced Craft City and Guilds in plumbing at Ayr College. He still lives in Ardrossan with his partner and three children. He has been working in the security industry for the past ten years, at Braehead during the construction of, and now within, the capital shopping company itself. He is currently a senior controller within the C.D.C department. He recently won the Scottish Security Officer of the year competition, run throughout Scotland by the Scottish Security Association (photo). After leaving school Jacqueline trained as an RMN. After 10 years she changed careers and went into stage Management where she toured nationally and internationaly. After spending some time on Islay she moved back to the mainland and has now opted for a more stable career as a bus driver.  In 2007 she got Civil Partnered to her girlfriend and they are living happily in Glasgow.

Heather obtained a B.Sc in Occupational Therapy at Glasgow School of Occupational Therapy.
She has lived and worked in Ayrshire most of her career, only recently moving to work in Glasgow, firstly as a Commisioner and now as the Manager of a Scottish Charity. She married Billy in 1988 and they have 2 children, Lynsey and Neil. In 2002 Heather is doing an MBA and has recently moved to Lochwinnoch. She has great memories of the Mikado and Pirates of Penzance and would like to hear from anyone who remembers her.

Karen obtained a BA (Hons) Business Studies at Glasgow Caledonian University. After graduating, she spent a year living and travelling in Australia. She then worked for IBM in London for 2 years and became scunnered with city life. She is still working for IBM in Greenock and now lives by the sea in sunny Largs ! Pastimes include running, wine drinking and socialising whenever possible.

Having resigned from a career in making polythene bags, Billy now has his own supercar hire business and is living "merrily" in Chester with his wife Liz. He is still in regular contact with a host of fellow ex-Ardrossan Academy "social miss-fits" such as John McKinnie (Scooter), John Graham and John Gardiner. Billy would like to take this opportunity to apologise to Mr Dalgleish for calling him Kenny during a particularly boisterous Chemistry lesson - he had never seen a teacher so angry - including when 'Chic' Blakely accused Billy of letting off fireworks !!

Ewan obtained a B.Sc. and M.B.Ch.B. at the University of Glasgow. Having conned the government into funding him for 7 years as a student in Glasgow, the government are now getting their own back. Ewan has worked as an SHO in Anaesthetics/ICU at Stobhill hospital, the Western Infirmary in Glasgow and is now working as a consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in Forth Valley (Stirling & Falkirk). He has also travelled around the world and worked in Australia in 1998. He married Wendy. They have two daughters and one son and they live in Dollar. He is Loving life and keeping out of trouble. Finlay escaped school to attend Stow College and Glasgow College of Building and Printing. He then went to the US & Canada for a while then returned and got involved with the Construction industry. He has been working as an Architectural Technician since around1990. He worked in Glasgow, then Aberdeen. He lives just North of Aberdeen with Yvonne, step-daughter Ashleigh and Maddie, a Hamilton Stovare (Hound Dawg). Louisa graduated in 1992 from Newcastle University with a BSc (Hons) in Marine Biology. She was soon to realise the severe lack of jobs around for marine biologists, so decided to galavant around the globe living and working in Australia and New Zealand on the way. She then decided to attempt yet another degree, this time in Physiotherapy at Glasgow Caledonian University - she qualified in 2000. She now has found a way to combine both degrees and works at the Sea Life underwater sports club, where she now massages dolphins with rugby injuries. Louisa loves her job and finds it really rewarding. She lives in Edinburgh between games and continues to over indulge in boozy nights out with her mates.

Chris obtained an MB.ChB with Commendation at the University of Glasgow. He changed his career from General Practice to Anaesthesia and worked at the Western Infirmary in Glasgow as a Specialist Registrar. He graduated with his Diploma of Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthestists (London) in May 2001. He is now living back in Ayrshire and is a consultant in Anaesthesia at Crosshouse Hospital. Chris is a responsible uncle to his neice and nephew, Pamela & Susanne's children. He enjoys hill walking, cinema, travel and catching up with his mates from school (Gavin Wilson, Ian Murray, Susan Murchie, Heather Clark (now Wilson) and Gavin Stewart). He also spends a lot of time going to the gym and keeping fit to balance his other hobbies of cooking and eating out.

She then worked in banking for 4 years until she decided to move on again - she is currently working in the Social Work Dept. and working towards an HNC in Social Care at Kilmarnock College so that she can go on to do a degree in Social Work.
Geraldine stays in Kilmarnock, is married to Gordon and they have two boys, Steven and Adam. She would like to hear from anyone who remembers her from school.

Sally's family moved to England following her father's death in 1982 but she returned to Scotland to study in 1983. She obtained a B.Sc. (Hons) Speech Pathology and Therapeutics at Jordanhill College, Glasgow. She qualified as a speech and language therapist in 1987 and now manages all the pre-school services in West Sussex as part of Sussex Community NHS Trust.

She remembers her school years very fondly. She had lots of good teachers like Ms Knox, Mr Cameron and Mr Maltby. She also remembers Mr Blakeley's belt!
She is happily married to Derrick and has a beautiful daughter, Brighde, born in 1998. They have recently completed building their own house. She enjoys driving her beautiful GTi, gardening and a good red wine!

When James left school he worked at AT Mays in Ardrossan on a YTS then joined the Royal Air Force in 1990 as a Policeman !! During his time in the RAF he married Susan Kean (West Kilbride ) and they travelled around from Germany to Northern Ireland via England. They have two Children: Jordan and Harley. James is now back in Ardrossan and is currently working for McDonald's Corporation. He would love to hear from anyone who knows him !

Duncan obtained a BSc in Immunology at the University of Glasgow. After leaving school he was in Glasgow for four years, then Aberdeen. He started his own business in 1989. He is married to Irene, has four boys and lives near Thornhill, Dumfriesshire. He still enjoys sport, and plays squash, golf and tennis occasionally. He 'succumbed to the benefits of swimming' recently after the boys joined the swimming club and really enjoys fly fishing if he can get the time. Duncan would be delighted to here from any old pals.

Karen obtained an MB ChB 1993 at the University of Aberdeen in 1993. She then completed her medical and surgical 'house jobs' in Scotland before spending 2 years in Australia. She travelled to Australia a budding surgeon and returned as an anaesthetist! She completed her SHO training in North Yorkshire and her Specialist Registrar training in South Yorkshire. She is now enjoying life as an anaesthetic consultant at the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield. "Well worth the hard graft" - she says! She got married in the spring of 2006. She is still enjoying the outdoor life but has been unsuccessful, at present, in convincing her husband to take her out climbing.

Since graduating he has worked in the Public Sector: in The Land Registry in Edinburgh for 2 years, for The Appeals Service in Glasgow for 9 years, for 7 years with Glasgow City Council, managing a team involved with Facilities Management in the council's PPP Secondary Schools - and in a similar role within the Educational Services Department of North Ayrshire Council since 2008. He has been married to Susan since 1992 with two kids, one of whom is now at Ardrossan Academy. Kenny obtained the degree of BVM&S at the University of Edinburgh and is now a vet. In his spare time he is still trying to get fit and has taken up the triathlon which is shorter than marathon running and more fun. He is married to Sharon Wells from Dunblane and they have a daughter, Corin Jade, born in 1994.

After 4 years in the RAF and a couple more working offshore, he decided to 'get qualified' and obtained a BSc in 'Land Economics' at the University of Paisley. He now works as Economic Policy Officer at North Lanarkshire Council. He lives in Glasgow with his girlfriend, is still dabbling in the weights and enjoys 'getting rubbered' at the weekend. He still loves 'The Rangers'.

Marianne obtained the degree of Bachelor of Education at Craigie College and is now a primary teacher in Saltcoats - she has quite a few children in her class whose parents were in her own year at school!
She got married in 1995 and lives locally with lots of pets! She was in the school dance group and the school band and is still in contact with three of her closest friends from the Academy.

Matilda is studying Law at the University of Glasgow. She says 'Hi' to everyone that knew her and wants to thank all the staff who helped her through the years. She is truely grateful because, if it was not for them, she 'wouldn't be where she is just now'. She recently visited the school and thought she saw Elton John but, to her shock, it was a Maths teacher called Mr Lunday!

Barry obtained Catering degrees 706/1 and 706/2 at Ayr College. He then worked in various hotels and catering establishments for approximately 5 years. For the next 5 years he had various jobs - from working as a roddie for a film crew to working in the electronics industry. Since 1995 he has been driving coaches for Stagecoach in Ardrossan (his main route is Ardrossan to Glasgow). Barry lives in Ardrossan with his partner Claire, son Brandon and stepdaughter Ste.

Married Name: Joan Mackenzie

Joan studied for four years and then qualified as a Primary Teacher. She obtained a B.Ed at Strathclyde University / Craigie College of Education. She has worked in five primary schools in different authorities.Throughout her career she has attained additional specialised degrees and qualifiications. She is currently Head Teacher at Kelburn Primary in Largs and lives in Seamill. Joan was remarried in April 2008 to Angus Mackenzie who was also in her year at Ardrossan Academy.

Billy went into hairdressing when he left school. He worked in Troon for 4 years then in the barber shop in Largs for 4 years. He is now in the route management business delivering mineral water around Scotland. He has been living with Elaine Cowie since 1990 and has a son called Dale who also attends Ardrossan Academy. Billy still plays in pipe bands, grade 1 with David Urquhart Travel Pipes and Drums since 1998.

It took Davy a few years after leaving school to work out what he wanted to do. He eventually ended up doing an Engineering degree at Glasgow University, and then a Masters in IT at Strathclyde University. During his first year at Glasgow he met a young medical student called Lynne and, in March 2003, she finally makes him 'an honest man'.

David left school to work for British shipbuilders at Govan then Ailsa shipyard at Troon (which was subsequently closed). He then worked abroad in a bar in Spain for a year before attending Stow College to do an HNC in Mechanical Engineering. He then trained as a plant inspection engineer with his father's company at various oil refineries and petro-chemical factories throughout the UK. He continued to do contract work in this field for different companies until 1997 when he started at the BP refinery in Grangemouth. He is still there. David lives in Saltcoats with his fiancee' Kaye and their daughter Hannah. He still manages the odd beer now and again with the boys and also follows Glasgow Rangers.

He is currently Team Leader for PC/Internet Development for a leading Outsourcing/Consultancy company based in Edinburgh. He lives in Rutherglen with his partner Tracy and has recently experienced the joy of fatherhood for the first time with the birth of his son, Kyle. His hobbies, therefore, now include trying to catch up on his sleep, reading and other non-exhausting activities. He is hoping to move into pipe-smoking and slipper-wearing imminently. Innis obtained a BA in Marketing and Finance at the University of Strathclyde. He was commissioned into the Parachute Regiment after leaving University but left the army in 1996. He worked in Houston, Cairo, Venezuela and Norway in the oil industry for a few years and, laterally, managed a company in Perth. He lived in Kelvingrove in Glasgow. His main interests were music, scuba diving, history and fitness training. He also commanded the TA Parachute Regiment in Scotland. Sadly, Innis died in a road accident in October 2002.

After completing her training at Crosshouse hospital, she moved to Manchester in 1998 and has lived and worked in the north west of England ever since. She married Peter, another pharmacist, in 1994 and they have twin boys, Tom and Dan, who were born in 1998. She lives in Warrington, Cheshire.
Elaine has done several different types of pharmacy jobs, all within the NHS. She is now combining the role of chief pharmacist with broader NHS management, as deputy director of health standards for NHS Central Lancashire. When not working, she enjoys reading, gardening and cycling, as well as hill-walking in her husband's native Yorkshire. She hardly ever plays the piano any more, but plays guitar in church most weeks. Elaine gets back to Ardrossan 3 or 4 times a year in the (English!) school holidays, and would be happy to hear from anyone who remembers her from school.

Gordon was a pupil from 1982 to December 1987. He went on and did a YTS and then worked in Largs for a few years before attending James Watt college. In 1992 he moved away from Hunterston (West Kilbride) to Glasgow where he worked in an hotel. In 1994 he moved to Manchester where he has been ever since. In 2000 he explored America then returned and spent the rest of the year in Holland to experience a different culture. Since then has been to 14 different countries with more to go! Once Jim left school he was a very successful amateur boxer and turned professional where he was undefeated. He was one of Britain's top prospects but retired early because of the death of his friend in a title fight. He has starred in a few films and choreographed a few fight scenes working with the likes of Morgan Freeman and Jet Lee to mention a few. He is in the Grand Slam Club - this is for runners who have run an ultra marathon on all the continents etc. He is known as The Running Kilt because he wears his Montgomerie tartan kilt in all his runs. He was voted North Ayrshire Citizen Of The Year in 2011 for his exploits, what he has done for his area and raising well over 300,000 for charities. His greatest high was carrying the Olympic Torch for the 2012 London Olympics which he said brought him to tears. In August 2011 he became a Councillor for Saltcoats and Stevenston with a total landslide at the ballot. Next stop, First Minister - watch this space!

On leaving school, Shonagh moved to Dallas, Texas. She returned to Ardrossan in 2002. She has a son currently (2005) attending Ardrossan Academy. She has a partner and is very happy.

Kenny obtained an HND in Computing at Ayr College and a B.Sc in 'Computing and Management Science' at the University of Strathclyde . He got his first job as a computer programmer for Strathclyde University
He married the wrong woman, moved to Kilmarnock, bought a big house then divorced and lost the big house. He has now remarried (right woman this time) and lives in sunny Saltcoats again. He runs his own Computer and Web consultancy business and looks after East Ayrshire Council's technical support. His spare time is spent watching Killie FC, playing badminton, at Seamill Hydro gym and eating and drinking too much!

Alastair left school at 16 then completed a modern apprenticeship at Roche Products Dalry (now DSM). He attended Kilmarnock College and Stow College to achieve HNCs in Mechanical Engineering and Process Plant Engineering. He then studied Mechanical Engineering, part time, at Paisley University. He worked for Roche from 1985 to 1996 then left to join Scottish Telecom (Thus), Racal Telecom (Thales) and then Parsons Brinckerhoff Ltd. He spent a year working on the development of the west-coast mainline, seconded to network rail in Milton Keynes. He then moved on to Carillion Rail to project manage the design and build of the west coast mainline from Beattock to Glasgow Central and installing two upgraded level crossings at Cleghorn and Auchengray. He is currently working with Booth Welsh Automation and enjoying the proximity to home once again.

He has lived in Darlington and Birmingham and is now living in his 'dream house', an old rectory with a huge garden in a small village just outside Darlington. He is working as an anaesthetist in Middlesbrough. He has passed his final exam for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. He is married to Venita (consultant paediatrician in Stockton-on-Tees ). They have a son, Andrew, and a daughter, Laura (see family photo taken in 2004). Charles obtained a 'City and Guilds' in Painting and Decorating at Ayr College. He worked all over Scotland as a painter and decorator. He now runs his own decorating business A.D.S. With his 'rebellious years' now behind him, he has settled down in Ardrossan with partner Hazel and the two kids, Rachel and Charlie. He has been playing the flute with Ardrossan Winton Flute Band since 1979. Charles would like any old class mates to get in touch.
Mulraney, Tom

Left school in 1986.

Tom played guitar in "The Moondazes" with Rab Cotton and Alan McKerrell for a few years then 'messed around' until his 21st birthday when he started work in a post-tensioning company. He now works for an Australian-based engineering firm as a post-tensioning supervisor, building bridges, multi-storey car parks and luxury apartment blocks all over the UK and Ireland. He enjoys playing guitar, riding his Kawasaki and spending time with his kids, Clare and Ryan. He would like to hear from anyone who remembers him or has my any of his missing albums, tools, books etc.

Denise obtained a BA in Publishing at Napier College. She has been married since 1994 and has three children: Derry, Olivia and Michael. Her spare time is spent with the children and studying for a 2nd degree in Psychology. She would be happy to hear from anyone from school. She currently lives in Ardrossan at the 'Old Reaper'.
